Under direction of Company environmental health and safety management, this position will function as the safety representative for assigned groups at General Atomics, with an initial assignment supporting the Energy Group. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:In coordination with safety and business unit management, participates in the development and implementation of company safety and environmental programs, including technical documents such as written plans, manuals, operating procedures, and other vehicles for communication of environmental health and safety-related information.Participates in the development and provision of safety and environmental training and other awareness campaigns.Identifies and analyzes incidents, related rates, and trends; conducts investigations and recommends corrective action plans.Advises and counsels business unit management concerning compliance with applicable laws, codes, regulations, and standards regarding safety and environmental matters.Performs related risk assessments and develops effective methods for program or processes enhancements.Performs other duties and assignments as required.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:Typically requires a Bachelor''s degree in Safety, Environmental Health, or related discipline, along with two or more years progressively complex experience. Additional professional experience may be substituted in lieu of education.Must havea general understanding of the principles, theories and concepts of occupational safety and related practices, techniques, and standards.Ability to identify issues and develop solutions to non-routine technical problems.Strong analytical, verbal and written communication skills to accurately document, report, and present findings to a variety of audiences including senior management and external parties.Strong interpersonal skills to interface with, influence, and guide all levels of employees, including senior management.Ability to maintain the strict confidentiality of sensitive information.Strong presentation skills in order to conduct training for all levels of employees.Good computer skills, including proficiency with Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.Ability to work independently or in a team environment is essential as is the ability to work extended hours and travel as required.DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:Certified Safety Professional (CSP) designation strongly preferred.Experience working in industrial, lab, or manufacturing environments strongly desired.General Atomics (GA), and its affiliated companies, is one of the world
