Mechanical Engineering is responsible for designing and developing components, mechanisms, systems and finished products or equipment.
The CareFusion Infusion Mechanical RD department requires a Lead Sr. Principal Mechanical Engineer to track technical progress and have oversight on the all the different subsystems for the next generation of infusion products.
Accountabilities
Track progress of the technical design of each subsystem.
Challenge design input for structural integrity and reliability
Provide input to the design for good manufacturing and assembly processes
Present to senior management the technical output in the form of design reviews or other forms of technical documentation.
Release designs thru a change order process
Provide input to test protocols and reports
Schedule meetings to resolve on-going issues
Works with other disciplines systems, software, electrical, program management in coordinating inter-subsystem dependencies
Writes theory of operations for subsystems
Works with outside consultants and suppliers in meeting the design requirements of a system
Oversees lab testing for DOEs, margin, verification, and reliability

* Demonstrates comprehensive knowledge in Mechanical Engineering and its application in solving complex problems
* Demonstrates comprehensive understanding of internal and external customer or business needs
* Works independently to create complex designs
* Evaluates and applies design tradeoffs and constraints for design optimization
* Is skilled in the use of advanced analysis tools and methods
* Independently tests, analyzes and solves comprehensive technical problems
REQUIRED SKILLS
Qualifications
* Good communication skills and works well with others
* 10 years of experience in medical or related industry
* B.S in Mechanical Engineering or higher
* Proven track record of successful leadership within an organization
* Capable of approaching a design at a systems level with electrical, mechanical, and software dependencies.
* Knowledge of mechanical constraints, tolerances, and budgets in determining efficiency of a subsystem
* Understanding of fluid dynamics, force and pressure sensors, stepper motors, and optical sensors.
* Has an understanding of test methods used in a RD lab environment utilizing tensile testers, torque transducers, pressure monitors, microscopes, and data acquisition systems
* Has good statistical background in determining probability, normal distributions, and standard deviations
* Has worked with electro-mechanical subsystems and packaging
* Has knowledge of variety of manufacturing processes including plastic injection molding, die cast, sheet metal, cable harnessing, thermoforming, and thermoplastic elastomers.
* Capable of performing Finite Element Analysis and using the output to optimize the design
* Capable of performing tolerance analysis
* Has a working knowledge of SolidWorks
* Proficient in Microsoft applications Word, Excel, Project, PowerPoint, Outlook
* Experience in SAP and Teamcenter Engineering a plus
