Animal Science Technician - Job Title: Animal Technician Position Type: Temporary part time work; approximately 10 hours a week on weekends only. Function/Scope The Animal Technician will be responsible for the daily care of research animals and the performance of animal experiments. Duties and Responsibilities Include But Are Not Limited To: Responsible for daily care of research animals including feeding, maintaining a clean environment and keeping track of animals overall health. Perform standard animal surgery and post-operative care without supervision. Perform routine laboratory or animal experiments and assays without supervision. Maintain comprehensive laboratory notebooks, suitable for proper patent verification and process parameter justifications. Conduct experiments and prepare written reports conforming to GLP documentation practices in support of regulatory filings. Perform other duties as required. General Responsibilities: Operate to the highest ethical and moral standards. Comply with policies and procedures for timely completion of company and department goals and objectives. Comply with the company safety policies and minimize risk to self, others and the environment, consistent with the community and industry standards; Responsible for adherence to quality standards set by regulations, company policy and company mission. Communicate effectively with supervisors, colleagues and subordinates. Be committed to team effort and be willing to assist in unrelated job areas when called upon. Education and Experience Required: Minimum high School diploma, BS in biological science or related preferred. Industrial experience a plus. Knowledge and Abilities: In vivo techniques including tumor models, necropsy, small animal surgery. Small animal dosing techniques including IP, IV, SC, PO. Animal husbandry techniques. Familiarity with LABCAT or other computerized animal tracking software.
