The Assistant Animal Technician is an entry level position wherein the incumbent provides facility support services including operation of equipment (i.e. autoclaves, cage-washers, water dispensers) and cleaning regimens (cages, racks, and, storage areas) and learns to care for animals as required by applicable laws and regulations. Duties include cleaning cages, racks, and cage accessories, loading tunnel or rack washers, filling cages with bedding, proper disposal of waste, tracking equipment inventory, operation of autoclaves and other facility related equipment. Incumbent may participate in on-the-job training programs to learn about proper care and handling of research animals including delivering food and water in accordance to established procedures, maintaining equipment and animal housing areas according to standard operating procedures and federal and state regulations. Perform record keeping duties such as per-diems records, feed logs, temperature/humidity charts, animal receipt and disposition logs, perform computer related duties/assignments.Required Qualifications
