JOB SUMMARY:

<tr><td valign="top" width="450"><b>Under the direction of Department of
Surgery Revenue Manager and Analyst IV Billing
Unit Supervisor, the DOS Analyst III coder/biller
will be responsible for all front-end billing
functions ranging from procedural and diagnosis
coding to insurance verification and charge entry.
The Department of Surgery billing office is
responsible for annual charges of over $115
million and collections over $25 million on behalf
of 90+ surgeons, non-ACGME fellows, and ancillary
practitioners across 7 surgical divisions,
accounting for more than 30 subspecialties.
Primary duties of the Analyst III will encompass
professional fee coding of both evaluation and
management series codes as well as abstract
operative report coding. As necessary, other
duties could include charge entry of reimbursement
coding with applicable modifiers into IDX, code
checking for compliance with federal, state,
university, and carrier guidelines, obtaining
insurance authorization for outpatient procedures,
documentation review and tracking of charges
reconciliation of multi-site clinical practice
charges, creation of admission visits with
correlating insurance registration for charge
purposes, billing data collection and report
generation, teaching and training of correct
coding and documentation standards, and acting as
team lead to manage/supervise specified billing
team members daily work production, coding
accuracy, and adherence to unit and departmental
policies . The DOS Analyst III coder/biller is
expected to adhere to all House and Telephone
Standards, and after training through appropriate
classes and seminars, demonstrate competency in
all required tasks. The incumbent will also
perform other duties as assigned.
Required QualificationsHold certification
as a Certified Professional Coder for Professional
Fee services maintain yearly credits to ensure
certification
Professional Fee coding experience of at
least three years that must include abstract
procedural coding
AA degree or equivalent years of related
experience and education
Four-five years relevant physician office
billing experience. The experience could have been
