The position is responsible for providing leadership and direction to ensure that the organization''s documentation practices are appropriate. The Clinical Documentation Specialist will provide guidance to the clinicians and non-clinicians who will interact regularly with physicians, management, and case management staff in a way, which ensures clinical documentation practices, are consistent, accurate and efficient.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />REQUIREMENTSAdvanced clinical expertise and extensive knowledge of complex disease processes with broad clinical experience in an inpatient setting required. Five years adult acute care experience. 1-3 years experience in Case Management and/or Utilization Management required. Computer application skills (Windows,Word Excel). Knowledge of Case Management computer programs (e.g Midas) required. Knowledge of Medicare Part A & B reimbursement and coding logic required . Must have the ability to be a part of the developing process. Must have a valid Registered Nurse license in<?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />California.Must be motivated,organized with excellent verbal and written interpersonal and analytical skills; strong facilitation and presentation skills. Must be able to function independently, interpret information ,comunicate with medical/clinincal staff and provide presentations as needed.Bachelors or Masters degree preferred . Interqual and Midas experience preferred.
