ResponsibilitiesThe primary responsibilities of the position involve assisting with the contracting and development of materials for corenon-majors biology and environmental sciencetexts and their supplements, both print and digital. The editorial assistant gathers market information to support acquisitions and development by commissioning, coordinating, and summarizing reviews.The EA also helps editorial staff prepare material for publication, which often requires some proofreading and quality-control checking.Prompt customer service to requests from sales representatives and in-house colleagues is an important part of our team-wide commitment to responsiveness, and the EA plays a critical role here as well. Duties include routine tasks such as data entry, maintaining files and records,maintaining a library of competitive textbooks,and processing check requisitions.Qualifications- BA/BS or equivalent work experience.- Must have demonstrated excellent verbal and written communication skills along with outstanding organizational, administrative, and interpersonal skills.- Attention to detail and an ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously are key skills for this position.- Strong computer skills (esp. word processing, spreadsheets, and databases) are necessary.-Familiarity and/or interest in science is a plus, as well as an interest in education.The hourly rate for this position is $17.31. For a 35 hour work week, it is an annualized salary of $31,500.This position is located in San Francisco, CA. The position is not eligible for relocation. Therefore, all candidates who live outside a commutable distance of San Francisco must be able to relocate themselves at their own expense.The hiring manager requires a cover letter with resume for this position.
