Medical Director and in accordance with
standardized procedures, the Nurse Practitioner
NP is responsible for preoperative assessment
and optimization of patients scheduled for surgery
or diagnostic/therapeutic procedures requiring
anesthesia. The NP obtains a health history and
performs a physical assessment, identifies
problems, and formulates plans that include
further diagnostic evaluation, risk
stratification, and counseling. The NP integrates
the nursing process and collaborates with other
health care professionals, including the patients
primary care providers and medical consultants.
The NP works with standardized procedures and
consults with physicians about appropriate cases.
