<tr><td valign="top" width="450"><b>Title: Occupational Health Technician Certified - Grade 215Location: San Francisco, CAEssential Functions:- Answers patient calls and obtains intake information, schedules appointments and based on clinic protocol. May be required to register patients based on facility/clinic protocol.- Contacts employer and/or Workers'' Compensation insurance carrier for authorization/claim status for treatment.- Provides, and/or assists with, administrative coordination of care.- Complies with State of California Workers'' Compensation regulatory reporting documents.- Communicates and transmits written reports and documentation to employers, insurance carriers, case managers and utilization review companies.- Orders supplies and equipment as required.- Assists with scheduling and tracking of specialty referrals.- Responds to employer inquiries regarding Occupational Health and Safety Services (OH&S).- Complies with policy and protocol for completion of required legal documents or company requirements when conducting screening exams and record keeping procedures.- Coordinates the provision of OH&S services and maintains appropriate records.- Communicate and transmits test results to employer.- Maintains client database for OH&S services and provides copies of Letters of Agreement to Regional Occupational Health.- Maintains appropriate logs for specialty services and equipment such as spirometry, audiometry and breath alcohol testing.- Schedules equipment maintenance and inspections as needed to comply with legal standards.- Adheres to departmental Quality Assurance procedures.Obtains basic history, and medical information, and take vital signs. Assesses and prepares for provider needs for patient examinations and procedures.- Administers intramuscular, subcutaneous and intradermal injections, and medication by inhalation under authorization and supervision of physician in accordance with State of California law and prevailing Kaiser Permanente agreements and protocols*- Performs phlebotomy- Provides patient and room preparation for medical and special procedures.- Provides wound care. *- Removes sutures or staples from lacerations and/or incisions.*- Performs visual acuity or color testing.- Performs urine specimen collection following DOT regulations and/or chain of custody requirements.- Performs urine dipstick testing.- Monitors breathing treatments, by observing patient for proper technique.- Performs EKGs.- Performs audiometric screen with current certification.- Performs spirometric screening with current certification.- Performs breath alcohol testing with current certifications.- Performs other duties as required.*All extended role duties must be in accordance with APC or other pertinent agreements.Qualifications:Basic Qualficiations:- High School Graduate or GED equivalent.- Must be a graduate of an Accredited Medical Assisting program and have at least one (1) year (1,000 hours or more per year) of recent clinical experience, or at least two (2) years (1,000 hours per year) of equivalent recent clinical experience.-In addition, must have at least one (1) year (1,000 hours or more per year) of recent occupational health clinical experience, and possess current certification and recent experience in at least two of the following: Spirometry Screening (NIOSH Approved), Audiometry Screening (CAOHC Certified), Breath Alcohol Testing (DOT Approved) or any other Occupational Health related testing where certification is required by State or Federal Regulations.- BLS required.- Must be willing to work in a Labor/Management partnership environment.
