It is home to a number of functional units: the Center for Self Care, Center for Translational and Policy Research on Personalized Medicine, Drug Product Services Laboratory, Drug Research Unit, and the California Poison Control System, among others. The department also administers the Doctorate of Pharmacy program at UCSF. The department has approximately 50 faculty and 160 staff, as well as over 600 volunteer faculty members.The Drug Product Services Laboratory (DPSL) is an extension of the Department of Clinical Pharmacy at UCSF. In addition to compounding intravenous medications for use by UC medical facilities, DPSL prepares a variety of solid drug formulations not available on the commercial market. DPSL also provides investigators with active and placebo, oral and parenteral formulations for use in clinical drug studies. The role of a pharmacy technician I for DPSL is based upon their ability to compound pharmaceutical preparations. These manipulations require mathematical skills and the knowledge of specialized pharmaceutical compounding techniques; will also perform other duties as assigned.Note: This appointment will end five months from the date of hire.Required Qualifications Licensed pharmacy technician; experience compounding intravenous medications; experience tracking inventory to maintain sufficient quantity of materials to provide uninterrupted services; assists in maintaining cleanliness of facility and participates in quality control procedures; drivers license with good driving record; mathematical skills and the knowledge of specialized pharmaceutical compounding techniques; understand and demonstrate the proper aseptic technique when preparing parenteral medications; exhibits good knowledge in the preparation of formulations including oral liquids/solids, and ointments/lotions/solutions.Note: Fingerprinting and background check required.Preferred Qualifications Ability to prepare a variety of solid drug formulations not available on the commercial market.License/Certification N/APosition Type Part TimePercentage 100%
