As the RFS, the incumbent will manage an annual $5.5 million (direct costs) in portfolio. The RFS works as an integral part of the administration team to make sure that faculty are well informed of their research finances and funds are managed in accordance with their extramural and institutional requirement.The position will interface with the Contracts and Grants office, Accounting and all funding agencies. The RFS will be the primary contact for 3+ Principal Investigators and their Division Administrators, will collaborate with the RMS team on grant preparation, coordination and completion of contract and grant submissions.  In post - award management, the RFS will generate monthly budget status reports for 17 grants, be fiscally responsible for grant portfolio management, ensure compliance with agency policies such as federal, state, and UCSF policies, and prepare all necessary documents to maintain accounts and close out expired grants. RFS will work with collaborating research institutes to maintain compliance with NIH, HIPAA, ICH, GCP, and institute-mandated guidelines, policies, and regulations on grants administration, clinical research on human subjects, and animal protection. Other duties as assigned.Required Qualifications BA/BS in accounting, finance, business, economics, mathematics or related field and three years of related experience in financial or administrative analysis or an equivalent combination of education and experience; Experience in accounting or grants management with an organization of comparable size and complexity including a firm grasp of compliance and audit requirements; Experience with a wide range of funding sources (e.g. NIH (R01, P01, R37, F32, DP1, U01, U19, K awards, ARRA, and administrative supplements), EGPAF, Gates, CHRP, international contracts, etc); Demonstrated strong skills in accounting with an extensive background in grants management, financial analysis, and the ability to present analyses to Principal Investigators; Possess good working knowledge of Federal requirements and guidelines in extramural fund management, effort reporting and salary caps; Ability to work with large amount of data with details and in an organized manner; Must possess the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and be able to set priorities that accurately reflect relative importance of job responsibilitiesRequires intermediate level of Microsoft Excel and good working knowledge and skill with Microsoft Word and Power Point; Good interpersonal skills to interact effectively and diplomatically with faculty, fellows, cross-functional managers, administrators and staff; Well-developed communication skills both verbally as well as written communication; Be self-directed and have the ability to follow through on assignments with accuracy and minimal direction; Must possess intellectual curiosity and emotional intelligence.
