<tr><td valign="top" width="450"><b>This position is a critical role within the Ion Torrent business Unit.Opportunity for exceptional bioinformatics scientist with extensive genomic analysis experience, who is highly creative and productive and who enjoys hands-on collaboration with molecular biology scientists in the development of new applications for a disruptive technology.Job responsibilities include:&middot;Lead the development of Ion Torrent&#x2019;s DNA and RNA mapping technology&middot;Develop algorithms and implementations to improve speed and accuracy of mapping&middot;Work with software engineers specializing in GPU and/or FPGA development to accelerate mapping&middot;Work with other scientists and engineers to adapt mapping techniques to optimize genetic interpretation in downstream applications.Applications would include but are not limited to DNA variant calling and RNA transcript analysis&middot;Extend mapping techniques to model new data types including long (400bp+) read lengths and paired end mappingEssential skills and background include:&middot;Outstanding graduate training and experience in bioinformatics, with expertise in DNA and/or RNA sequence alignment.&middot;Excellent C/C++ coding skills, experience with common processes and tools used in commercial software development&middot;Ability to lead the development efforts of computational biologists and software engineers to achieve goals&middot;Extensive abilities in data manipulation and analysis using tools such as Python/Perl and R/Matlab in a Linux environment.&middot;Expertise in the handling of huge (terabyte-sized) bioinformatics datasets.&middot;Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external scientists.Job CategoryResearch & Development
