Must fully absorb, refine, or write sub-system requirements under the direction of senior staff and integrate into mechanical designs that achieve first level of performance objectives. Must further optimize designs for DFx, cost effectiveness, to meet project timelines, or develop timelines for completion. Must work cross-functionally with manufacturing to achieve manufacturing goals and support product releases with support activities in addition to specific design activities. Must educate internal personnel and share knowledge in a variety of areas of own expertise to enhance overall group effectiveness.* As a highly skilled specialist, contributes to the development of concepts and techniques. Completes complex tasks in creative and effective ways.* Participate in conceptualization of new systems and designs in Product Development.* Prepare working layouts that realistically meet performance objectives.* Aid and assist senior engineering staff with alternatives to DFM, DFx opportunities and suggest cost effective alternatives.* Prepare detailed drawings for manufacturing to support all phases of development.* Assist in hands-on activities relating to builds, debugging, trouble shooting of all mechanical systems, not just their own.* Assist in design and knowledge transfer to others via written procedures, assembly, operational instructions, or other methods.* Communicate upwards and across to other depts., design intent; hold regular reviews as required by Project Leads or program requirements.* Perform drawing checks using GDT of other designs to ensure conformance.* Review and suggest modifications to internal CAD and drawing standards where applicable.* Assist or manage vendors to ensure quality, and timely delivery of material is met for program objectives.* Assist in or act as dept. CAD administrator to ensure all CAD standards are met by others; provide advice and counseling when needed.* Embrace change and flexibility in the performance of all duties.* Consistently works on complex assignments requiring independent action and a high degree of initiative to resolve issues.Qualifications:Requirements:* AA degree required. * A minimum of 10 years experience in mechanical design in a product development, R&D environment.* A minimum of 5 years experience supporting product releases through manufacturing to launch.Ideal candidate will have:* BS degree preferred.* Effective organization and time management skills. * Highly developed interaction and cross functional communication skills both written and verbal. To include effective presentation skills and ability to communicate concepts, project status and other project dynamics upwards to senior engineering staff and management. * Highly conversant and able to draft manufacturing assembly instructions to a level adequate enough for successful design transfer of specific designs. * Work cross-functionally with other depts. to educate and communicate design intent of critical assemblies.* Working knowledge of basic tools such as PowerPoint, MS Word, Excel and other methods to communicate complicated designs, and results effectively.* 10 yrs with PROE, or Solid works, and related PDM, Intralink data managers. * Fully conversant in all aspects of 3D CAD modeling with ability to use all relevant modules for the design of complex systems. * Support engineering staff with complex models for detailed analysis and be able to communicate with 3D CAD source data for analysis functions.* Thorough knowledge of all machining and material finishing practices that are in standard use.  Fully GDT compliant and able to act as mentor, instructor for the mechanical dept. * Fully cognizant of design trad
