Responsible for taking and following through on customer orders, information requests, and inventory status. Entering orders into the Crescent Order Management System OMS for customers. Responsibilities also include order review to ensure accuracy and communication of any deviation to an order to the customer in a timely and professional manner. In addition, this position is responsible for assisting and assembling product for receiving, storing, shipping, and control of materials in inventory or for sale.
Primary Duties
Greet customers in a courteous and professional manner.
Develop mutually beneficial relationships with customers and co-workers.
Provide distributor products/services and be able to offer add-on or substitute products to meet customer requests and minimize lost sales.
Process customer phone requests and provide assistance to Inside Sales Department when needed.
Enter orders into the Crescent OMS System.
Work closely with the Purchasing Department and account managers to ensure customer needs and expectations are met.
Pick and pack customer orders quickly and accurately.
Assist with loading customer orders at the dock.
Continually learn about new products and their application. Educate customers on the features and benefits of new products and services.
Assist the Purchasing Department by communicating low inventory levels and provide feedback on what products are needed in stock and what products are not.
Enter lost sales into Order Management System OMS.
Maintain counter area and displays to ensure a professional and organized appearance.
Record and assist in resolving customer complaints.
Enter and process customer Return Goods Requests quickly and accurately.
Continually work on developing sales skills.
Participate in sales and vendor product meetings. Provide input to increase the effectiveness of these efforts.
Acquire superior knowledge of branch inventory and its proper location.
Provide feedback on pricing issues with customers to account manager/manager while adhering to company pricing policies.
Become fluent with manufacturer catalogs and literature so as to quickly find answers to customer requests.
Assist warehouse personnel with general tasks when able.
Communicate concerns/opportunities of both customers and employees to management for review and appropriate action.
Communicate customer delivery requests to appropriate personnel to ensure deliveries are on time and sent to the correct location.
Develop contacts from manufacturers and representative agencies to quickly provide technical or order status information to customers.
Continually increase order writer volume on a yearly basis.
Qualifications
Previous product experience required. Basic PC data entry skills required. Sales experience preferred, but not required.
Person must have excellent organizational and communication skills. Must be able to work closely with other employees. The ability to prioritize and multi-task is essential. Person also needs to have the ability to maintain a professional attitude and appearance in difficult or stressful situations. Counter sales personnel are the people who see customers face to face more than almost anyone and MUST remain courteous and respectful under all situations.
High school dipl==4000 oma or general education degree GED and a minimum of one year related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Drivers license and/or CDL and forklift certification or the ability to acquire a forklift license.
Ability to lift up to 100 pounds.
