JOB SUMMARY:

<tr><td valign="top" width="450"><b>Located in So. Californias desirable Orange County, Coastal Communities Hospital has been serving the city of Santa Ana and its surrounding communities since 1975. Coastal Communities Hospital is an acute-care facility with 178 beds.
The CDS is responsible for concurrent review of medical records to facilitate the accurate representation of the severity of illness. Able to recognize opportunities for documentation improvements, formulate clinically credible documentation clarifications, effective and appropriate communication with case management, HIM and physicians. Understand and communicate differences between Medical A and B guidelines and how they impact DRG assignments. Knowledge of regulatory environment. Recent hospital experience preferably in ICU, CCU, or Tele. Basic computer skills. Knowledge of RAC and appeals. <br><br>
Qualifications -- Clinical Documentation Specialist certification preferred but not required. Min. 1 yr. experience as CDS. CA RN license preferred but not required with 1 yr. min. experience in Tele or ICU preferred.
