This new center is taking Qualcomm in new directions such as multicore and heterogeneous computing, mobile security, machine learning, virtual machines and compiler technology, and context and position-aware technologies.With the proliferation of apps, mobile devices increasingly face the dangers of software that compromises security and performance of the system. Current solutions are challenged by the complex interaction of mobile software with various hardware sub-systems. This Qualcomm Research Silicon Valley project explores advanced techniques that enable a mobile device to safeguard itself against such apps that are actively malicious, or poorly written. It aims to build a system that monitors the devices behavior, analyzes the behavior, and intelligently takes action.Responsibilities Skills/Experience We are looking for candidates with strong system level experience to design and architect critical security features into mobile devices.The ideal candidate would bring research experience in one or more of the following areas:a) Security architectureb) Embedded SW and SW architecturec) Mobile securitySKILLS:Prefer candidates with a cross-layer understanding of system design issues for security.Proficient in programming in C/C++, and Linux internals.Prior expertise on Android or other mobile OS a plus.Strong analytical skills, and ability to independently pursue new research directions.Good verbal and written communication skills are prerequisitesEducation Requirements Students pursuing MS or PhD degrees in Electrical and or Computer Engineering or Computer ScienceKeywords
