The Environmental, Health Safety Manager is responsible for effective implementation of all EHS activities in the facility. S/he is also responsible for supervision of the waste treatment supervisor, technicians, and operators. Submits workers compensation WC claims and coordinates closure and resolution of all open WC claims.
Responsibilities include but not limited to
Works with General Manager to define effective injury prevention activities and goals for plant supervisors and managers. Monitors leading and trailing injury indicators and reports to GM monthly.
Interfaces with outside regulatory agencies to secure permits and enforcement compliance.
Monitors, records, reports and maintains all hazardous waste activities.
Environmental department controls the discharge of waste, water and other materials to conform to all federal, state and local regulations.
Establish requirements to the facility personnel in the handling of hazardous materials and hazardous waste.
Negotiates with vendors for pricing of services, writes CERs, and creates and implements programs.
Trains employees on safety issues, and manages all environmental, health safety programs within the facility.
Facilitates and attends meetings, communicates regularly with managers and supervisors, attends special training and suggests and composes procedural changes.
Responsibilities include reviewing all accident investigations, near misses and safety concerns. Establishes safety training requirements and presentations such that co-workers understand and follow the directions identified in Job Safety Analysis JSA, PPE Assessments, Material Safety Data Sheets MSDS and all Safety Procedures and Alerts.
Job Qualifications
The successful candidate will be a hands-on, success driven individual with
Bachelors Degree in a technical field
Minimum of 5 years of EHS-related experience
A.Has advanced English and mathematical skills, is able to read, write, and understand procedures, has statistical techniques experience, presentation skills, facilitation skills, negotiation skills, general interpersonal skills, and has an understanding of cultural diversity.
B.Has good reading vision, color discrimination, hearing perception, and is able to speak clearly.
C.Is able to lift up to 25 pounds and move drums weighing up to 500 lbs with a barrel truck. Works up to 10 hours a day, 5 days a week, and is flexible to work on weekends.
D.Awareness of ITAR Regulations and ISO 9001 standards is preferred.
