FULL TIME CAREER
Starting Salary Range $85,000 to $93,000/annually. Salary
commensurate w/qualifications and experience.

Involves developing, implementing, and monitoring campus
environmental and safety programs and policies to ensure
compliance with federal, state, and local environmental, health,
and safety regulations, and to ensure a safe workplace. Includes
hazardous materials control, emergency preparedness, fire
protection, radiological safety, accident prevention, air and water
quality, and other EHS programs and policies or provides
technical support for these programs.
Provides direct supervision typically to professionals or skilled
technical employees. Functions as advisor to unit and
administration. Analyzes and resolves problems, interprets
policies e.g., fiscal management, HR, contracts and grants,
resource management in defined areas and demonstrates solid
subject matter knowledge. Exercises judgment within defined
procedures and policies to determine appropriate action.
Supervises staff to assure accountability and stewardship of
campus resources operational, financial, and human in
compliance with departmental goals and objectives.
Receives assignments in the form of objectives with goals and
the process by which to meet goals. Supervises EHS
professional and technical level staff engaged in monitoring,
preventing and implementing environmental health and safety
programs. May oversee multiple scientific and technical
disciplines, integrating criteria to meet compliance requirements.
May recommend changes to department policies and practices.
May serve on system-wide technical committees to develop
subject area improvements or compliance.
Qualifications include
Bachelors degree in an appropriate scientific, engineering or
environmental science field, and / or an equivalent combination
of education, training and experience in safety management,
safety engineering, industrial hygiene, or public health.
Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of EHS
technical requirements, logistics, materials and operations, rules,
regulations, laws, et cetera.
Experience managing a Lab Safety Program including design,
development and implementation of Chemical Hygiene
programs, policies and practices.
Experience recommending appropriate engineering,
administrative and personal protective equipment controls to
eliminate or mitigate present or potential exposures to chemical
hazards.
Ability to effectively direct and supervise subordinate staff who
are assigned duties in different programs.
