The Front Desk Specialist is responsible for greeting and checking-in clients, preparing, scanning and coordinating paperwork, determining payer source, collecting fees/receipts and donations, collecting IDs, answering phones, scheduling appointments, and providing service delivery under the medical supervision of Clinician and/or Physician within the scope of position. Must provide excellent customer service in a non-judgemental, empathetic manner.Education and Experience:* High School Diploma or the equivalent.* 1 year medical receptionist or administrative experience.* Medical Receptionist certificate preferred* Bilingual English/Spanish required for some positionsEssential Functions:Essential functions encompass the required tasks, duties, and responsibilities performed as part of the job and the reason the job exists.* Adhere to affiliate goals and policies on professionalism, wait time in-center and addressing client complaints.* Participate in health center efforts to achieve established goals for productivity.* Participate in health center/affiliate efforts to achieve established revenue cycle goals.* Perform the following functions:* Greet clients, answer phones, refer calls, and make appointments.* Maintain client records.* Assess client finances, which may include verifying insurance, health plan authorization, Medi-Cal cards with picture ID, collect fees and donations per Agency guidelines, complete appropriate forms and obtain signatures per Agency policy.* Review and reconcile billing on a daily basis.* Complete related financial/statistical paperwork for clients.* Copy/transfer charts as needed.* Monitor center flow and client visit time.* Input and update computer client data information. Responsible for the accuracy of client information entered into the Agency’s Practice Management system and Electronic Medical Record system.* Support the provision of supply and emergency contraceptive visits per protocol under the supervision of a licensed medical professional.* Ensure ongoing communication with Patient Flow Coordinator, Center Manager, and other center staff.* Prepare center for opening and secure for closing as required.* Schedule client appointments including but not limited to contraceptives and abortion services.* Provide abortion referral.* Comply with all safety policies and procedures.* Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements (e.g. annual TB Testing, biannual review of emergency policies, procedures and drills, annual OSHA training review etc.) per Agency policy and regulatory mandates.* Attend trainings, staff meetings and in-services to maintain and increase knowledge of protocols and procedures.* Ensure client satisfaction.* Ensure successful completion of required unit.Planned Parenthood of the Pacific Southwest is an Equal Opportunity EmployerRequirements:Travel 0 - 25%Expertise Health Center Administrative/ClericalEducation High SchoolJob Type Full TimeLocation CA - SouthYears of Experience 1-3 yearsPreferred Language English
