Provide counseling/education in a non-judgmental, empathetic, and professional manner. Functions under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, Mid-level Clinician or Physician including written routine orders, medical protocol, and Policy and Procedures.QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Bilingual skills may be required.EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:1. A valid and current California license as a Licensed Vocational Nurse.2. Current CPR certification.3. IV certification.4. Phlebotomy certification.5. One (1) year of experience in a health, medical or social services setting is preferred.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:1. Educate patients regarding post-operative instructions, family planning method, and exams.2. Handles patient&rsquo;s questions and problems relating to their chosen birth control method.3. Assist in maintaining emergency kit, equipment and supplies.4. Start and/or monitor IVs for patient sedation and emergencies (with appropriate certification and per protocol) under supervision of registered nurse and physician.5. Triage (i.e., evaluate, screen and refer) patient phone calls regarding family planning/reproductive services and post-abortion complications to physician or clinician when appropriate.6. May participate in areas of administrative program, as needed: a. Follow-up of clients entered into the tracking system, in consultation with an abortion physician and other staff. b. Ordering and inventory maintenance (forms, medical equipment). c. Monthly statistics. d. Ledgers and accounting. e. Computer data entry.Surgical Services/Recovery Room1. Obtain medical history, interview and educate clients ensuring informed consent.2. Handle difficult counseling situations with clients on
