About the position: Lassen Volcanic National Park is seeking a dynamic, self-motivated, inspiring and friendly individual for the position of Park Guide, GS-0090-03 for the Interpretive Division at Lassen Volcanic National Park. This is a Full-Time, Temporary position and will not last more than 6 months. ONE position is available. No government housing is available.
This position will be filled in the Excepted Service under the Contiguous to the Area appointing authority for Lassen Volcanic National Park. If hired into the Excepted Service into a Career-Conditional Appointment based on the Park's authority, it will not confer the portability of an appointment with the Competitive Service. This position will be filled under the Contiguous-to-the Area appointing authority for Lassen Volcanic National Park. Applications will be accepted only from individuals who have maintained a current permanent exclusive residence within the towns of Mineral, Manton, Shingletown, Hat Creek, Old Station, Paynes Creek, Greenville and Chester, CA for a minimum of two (2) years. You must complete the narrative contiguous to the area authority question in the assessment questionnaire stating where in communities you lived, length of time, and address of occupancy. Area information: Area information: Lassen Volcanic National Park is a largely undiscovered gem of the National Park Service. Situated where the Cascade and Sierra Nevada Ranges meet, it contains a wonderful diversity of mixed conifer forests, lakes, streams, alpine fell-fields, and meadows resplendent in summer wildflowers and butterflies. Various types of extinct and dormant volcanoes dominate the landscape, as well as active hydrothermal features like steam vents and mud pots. Recreational opportunities abound, with cross-country skiing and snowshoeing in the winter, and hiking, camping, backpacking, fly-fishing, and kayaking in the summer. Boating is available on nearby Lake Almanor or the Sacramento River.
