Job Summary
A Mechanical Engineer is responsible for a broad range of mechanical engineering and multi-disciplinary tasks. Typical assignments will include design, analysis, and integration at the component and system levels.
Responsibilities Include
Reading and interpreting engineering specifications
Structural design, analysis, and optimization
Detailed design and technical drawings of systems, components, and interfaces
Technical input into vehicle level and sub-system trades
Engineering support of development testing
Analysis and interpretation of test data
Working collaboratively across multiple engineering disciplines
Supporting technical reviews, direct interaction with customers
Performing other job related duties as assigned by management
REQUIRED SKILLS
Education
BS in Mechanical Engineering or MS in Engineering, plus 2 years of direct work experience
Position Requirements
Working knowledge of CAD modeling using a major 3D software package e.g., SolidWorks, ProE, UG-NX, or CATIA
Knowledge of suspension system/component design, power train component design gearboxes, differentials, and transmissions, chassis design tube frame, monocoque, and vehicle dynamics is desired
Ability to apply GDT to components and assemblies per ASME Y14.5-1994
Experience performing structural, and/or thermal analysis using FEA software
Exposure to and familiarity with prototype and low-volume manufacturing techniques including machining, casting, forging, and general fabrication
KEY REQUIREMENTS:
2 years Bachelors degree
