Summary
The Laborer performs general manual labor tasks including loading, unloading, lifting, and moving materials. Assists with a variety of functions with manual labor tasks as needed.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Read work orders or receive oral instructions to determine work assignments and material and equipment needs
- Record numbers of units handled and moved, using daily production sheets or work tickets.
- Move freight, stock, and other materials to and from storage and production areas, delivery vehicles, and containers, by hand or using trucks, tractors, and other equipment
- Sort materials before loading and unloading
- Assemble product containers and crates, using hand tools and precut lumber
- Pack containers and re-pack damaged containers
- Carry needed tools and supplies from storage or trucks, and return them after use.
- Service, clean and supply restrooms and showering facilities.
- Gather and empty trash.
- Clean building floors by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing or vacuuming.

Qualifications - Experience, Education and Licensure
Required
- High school diploma, GED certificate, or equivalency.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Performing routine maintenance on equipment and determining when and what kind of maintenance is needed. Repairing machines or systems using the needed tools. Determining causes of operating errors and deciding what to do about it.
- Giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times.
- Installing equipment, machines, wiring, or programs to meet specifications. Determining the kind of tools and equipment needed to do a job.
- Managing ones own time and the time of others.
- Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
- Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.
- Knowledge of relevant equipment, policies, procedures, and strategies to promote effective local, state, or national security operations for the protection of people, data, property, and institutions.
- Ability to tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong. It does not involve solving the problem, only recognizing there is a problem.
- Ability to exert maximum muscle force to lift, push, pull, or carry objects.
- Ability to bend, stretch, twist, or reach with your body, arms, and/or legs.
- Ability to use your abdominal and lower back muscles to support part of the body repeatedly or continuously over time without giving out or fatiguing.
- Ability to quickly move your hand, your hand together with your arm, or your two hands to grasp, manipulate, or assemble objects.
- Ability to imagine how something will look after it is moved around or when its parts are moved or rearranged.
- Ability to combine pieces of information to form general rules or conclusions includes finding a relationship among seemingly unrelated events.
Additional Qualifying Factors
Possesses valid US drivers license any state and proof of insurance. Must be eligible for access to USMC installation. As a condition of employment, must have acceptable background check results and pass a pre-employment drug screening.
