General Dynamics Information Technology is an Equal Employment Opportunity and Affirmative Action employer.Principal Duties/ResponsibilitiesThe contractor shall perform the following duties (with project management, program integration, administrative, clinical, educational, and research components) as they relate to Patient Safety (PSP) and associated employee, family/significant other, visitor, and community health issues. The contractor shall participate in the establishment and operation of the Military Health System PSP at the MTF level and work closely with MTF leadership to promote a culture of safety throughout the MTF, identify, recommend and aid in the implementation of process improvements leading to the formulation of policies and practices to affect safer care. In addition, the contractor will make recommendations for organizational changes leading to safer patient care delivery. The contractor shall stay abreast of national patient safety initiatives and the impact on the Navy''s Patient Safety Program. The contractor will administer and manage day-to-day PS program operations encompassing all aspects of inpatient, ambulatory care, and support functions. The contractor will collaborate closely with the Chief of the Medical Staff, Performance Improvement (PI), Quality Management (QM), and Risk Management (RM) offices.The contractor shall also be responsible for coordination of (RCAs), proactive risk assessment (PRAs), and other PS initiatives brought about by the event reporting and proactive risk assessment functions of the Patient Safety Program (PSP).In order to carry out the contractual requirements the contractor shall have access to all necessary and relevant MTF and medical staff data, including but not limited to committee minutes, medical records and medical staff files.The MTF contractor shall perform the following specific tasks:1. Plan, develop, implement, and coordinate PS functions in accordance with US Navy and DoD directives.2. Serve as a PS resource and confer with all levels of personnel to develop and direct the program.3. Participate in the annual appraisal of the adequacy of organization-wide PS activities/policies/ procedures to ensure program effectiveness.4. Collaborate with all other facility functions on items/issues related to risk identification, risk assessment, and risk control. These functions include, but are not limited to, executive committee of the medical staff, executive committee of the nursing staff, risk management, quality services, performance improvement, infection control, facility safety, medical logistics, medical equipment maintenance, information management, education and training, Pharmacy and Therapeutics, and bioenvironmental engineering.5. Ensure all events are reported according to US Navy and DoD instructions. The contractor shall monitor the reporting process, analyze events, take appropriate action, and consult with risk, credentials and performance improvement (PI) managers as appropriate.6. Collect, collate, analyze, and display data from facility event reviews, RCAs, FMEAs, and other sources.
