DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES -
Responsible for presenting all EHS components in a home environment, with the assistance of the parents. Reinforces the parents role as the prime educator of their children and assists parents in becoming more self-sufficient. Works with expectant families to prepare for birth of child.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS -
FRS I - A.A. in Human Development,HD, Social Work,SW, Nursing or related field near completion or Home Base C.D.A. Credential.
FRS II - Successful mastery of the FRS I responsibilities or related experience. A.A. in Social Services, HD, Nursing or related field, including six units of Early Childhood Education ECE, or LVN license with experience in maternal or child health. Must complete six units from the core ECE within 2 years of employment.
FRS III. - Successful mastery of the FRS I responsibilities or related experience. B.A. in Social Services, HD, Nursing or related field including six units of ECE, or RN license with experience in maternal or child health. Must complete six units from the core ECE within 2 years of employment.
EXPERIENCE, ABILITIES, KNOWLEDGE, AND ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS -
FRS I-III - Must have two years experience working with low-income families. Knowledge and experience in child development and ECE, the principles of prenatal and child health, safety and nutrition, adult learning principles, and family dynamics. Work and relate well with parents and other adults as well as with children. Maintain professional relationships with families, demonstrated skills in written and oral communication and motivating people. Bilingual, Spanish/English preferred, but not required. Ability to work flexible hours in order to work on occasional weekends and evenings for parent activities. For work-related driving, must have a valid drivers license, verifiable good driving record, and access to a vehicle with insurance that covers the employee as a driver. Must successfully complete pre-employment physical and T.B. clearance prior to employment and every four years thereafter. Must pass Criminal Background Live Scan prior to employment and report any criminal conviction thereafter to DSS, Community Care Licensing within 48 hours.
BILINGUAL FAMILY RESOURCE SPECIALIST - Must be able to speak and write English designated other languages fluently. Communicate with families in their native language. Serve as interpreter for those families who do not speak English. Translate written materials from English to the families native language and, when necessary, from the familys native language to English.
