Mizuho engineers, working with leading Orthopedic Surgeons, continuously develop new surgical techniques to drive the market. Our company has a strong market share, is financially stable; and performed well and beyond expectations in 2011.SCOPE:Designs mechanical components for operating room equipment with some electro/hydraulic applications. Participate in review and disposition of non-conforming material and assemblies. Plan and schedule projects in a manner consistent with corporate objectives. Contribute to the intellectual property position of the company via invention and patent application. Identify and qualify outside vendors and consultants as required. Maintain current knowledge of competitive technologies including medical, technical, manufacturing, and materials developments as related to company products. Conduct testing utilizing existing test protocols or create new ones as needed. Maintain complete, accurate, and timely design history documentation, including testing methods. Provide support for the resolution of product complaints and/or safety issues. Work with other engineering, manufacturing, sales and marketing, quality, and regulatory staff to coordinate pilot production of new products.Duties: ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:* Understand, support and follow the Corporate Vision, Mission & Values Statements.* Support company goals and objectives.* Understand, follow and support Mizuho OSI''s internal Quality System policies, procedures and work instructions including but not limited to applicable external regulations (21 Code of Federal Regulations Part 820 Quality System Regulations and applicable International Standards).* Participate with new product introduction to assure product designs are producible in our manufacturing environment at the most favorable costs for the sales volume expected.* Evaluate input from Sales and Marketing on product performance.* Maintain a continuing liaison relationship with manufacturing and marketing functions to assure readiness to meet commitments of new business and to assure that production rates and product designs provide effective utilization of available manufacturing resources.* Continually reduce product cost through design, process, procedure, and method improvement.* Collaborate with other Mizuho engineers on mechanical designs, and activities concerned with technical developments, scheduling, and resolving engineering design and test problems within standard regulations.* Participate in material review board activities.* Assist other engineers and designers with technical input as necessary* More senior level engineer may lead projects and manage the related personnel.Qualifications: KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:* Fluency with a 3D solid modeling package, preferably Solid Works, and AutoCad software. Adept use of Excel, MS project, Word, and occasionally MathCad.* Strong written and verbal English communication skills are required.* Ability to apply engineering principles using logical or scientific thinking to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. * Ability to comprehend an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagrammatic form.* Ability to find creative or innovative solutions for design of mechanical parts or assemblies.
