Please take this opportunity to learn about Genentech, where we believe that our employees are our most important asset and are dedicated to remaining a great place to work.The PositionThe gMed Clinical Program Director(Associate Director) is accountable for overseeing a large therapeutic area or several therapeutic areas in providing direction to members of gMed Clinical Operations in ensuring the management and execution of all gMed Clinical Operations deliverables, and leads the Clinical Operations team to achieve gMed Medical Plan goals and objectives. Job Duties/Responsibilities: * Direct management of gMed Clinical Program Managers and Clinical Study Managers providing therapeutic area specific leadership, guidance, clinical trial management expertise and direction to achieve results. Responsible for performance management and effective coaching. Provides timely and direct feedback to functional managers for some team members working in a matrix environment* Primary interface to gMed Senior Management (Therapeutic Area Head, Group Medical Directors) and GMA counterparts to ensure alignment and high performance of clinical trials in their therapeutic area (s) of responsibility* Works closely with Clinical Program Director counterparts and Department Head to maximize department performance including: metric identification, measurement and optimization, training, change management and positive department culture.* Delivers high quality therapeutic area deliverables on time and within budget * Identifies therapeutic area risks; proactively creates and implements mitigation strategies * Provides timely and accurate input to gMed Medical plans including forecasting of timelines, assessment of feasibility for protocol design, estimation of resources, and therapeutic area budget * Collaborates effectively with cross-functional management teams and external partners* Partners effectively with Global Medical Affairs and global colleagues* Tracks and evaluates staffing needs and collaborates with gMed Clinical Operations management to ensure adequate resources are assigned to achieve deliverables* Provides oversight to Clinical Operations teams in vendor review, selection and issue escalation management. * Provides gMed Clinical Operations oversight to the gMed Clinical Program Managers/Study Management Teams with leadership and assistance in issue resolution ensuring SMT success* Develops, implements, and manages therapeutic area/areas Clinical Operations budget and timelines; communicates initial budget and changes to review bodies as appropriate * Effectively collaborates with gRED/pRED and development colleagues for input and information exchange to ensure success of clinical programs.* Performs job duties independentlyWho You AreCompetencies Identified for Success: * Highly advanced leadership skills; communicates and demonstrates vision and commitment* Ability to motivate, organize, manage and provide direction to teams and individuals.* Effective direct management and coaching skills* Effective influence and relat
