This also includes to ensure the team has the right people are in the right jobs and focusing developing individual contributors. This will be responsible for working cooperatively with PI Architecture and Engineering to define requirements for new technologies in the Storage and Backup Technology Architecture Roadmap and interface with existing and potential vendor to understand the changing nature of our solution environments. This role will be a core member of Storage Services leadership team and will be actively engaged developing and realizing the vision of our group. This role is expected to partner heavily with all Operations Team Leader, Team Leader of technology and Lifecycle Management and Team Leader of Reporting and Control to meet budget targets and capacity growth and keep services running within defined SLAs.Purpose and mission of department, role of headThe purpose of Storage Services group is to deliver the core storage and backup infrastructure services that enable our employees to deliver life-saving therapeutics to our patients. To do so while merging formerly separate IT organizations, the Head of Storage Services will to drive massive change to the core data storage devices, moving them from a predominate SAN storage footprint to one of Scale-out NAS storage. The technology migration will allow for dramatic reduction of traditional tape-based backups for data protection while providing enhanced DR capability with replication of data across countries. Most important contributions of this departmentDrive adoption of new technology standards for Storage and Backup Services - The will include the transition for SAN to NAS technologies and a shift from traditional tape-based backups to disk based data replication for data protection, and a consolidation of vendors and devices for infrastructure.Create a Follow-the-Sun organization - With a global team with common technology, work in all locations can be managed in a fashion that hands off control of tickets and incidents and will reduce team workload and necessary overtime.Main customersFor Storage services gRED and pRED will be the main customer in terms of performance and growth for DNA sequencing programs and molecular imaging. In the Enterprise, VMware storage in support of server consolidation and Group and Individual Network Shares will be the major services.
