The Plant Manager is responsible for 1
directing all manufacturing functions including
production, engineering, mining, maintenance and
administrative functions of the site 2 planning
for capital improvements and Hoshin Kanri
projects 3 establishing effective employee
relations to ensure the availability of a well
trained and motivated work force 4 heavy focus
on safety MSHA and Lean Manufacturing. Must be a
champion for change.
Duties also include developing subordinates, as
well as directing, training, supervising,
scheduling and overall management of the operation
to ensure quality output at minimum cost.
Coordinates with Quality Assurance to ensure
products are produced in accordance with customer
specifications, ensure compliance with in-process
testing and sampling, and ensure customer
satisfaction. Regularly interfaces with sales,
marketing and customer service to ensure
customers needs are being met. Is responsible for
maintaining production rates to best utilize
equipment and labor while managing costs. Must
have the ability to manage and balance plant-wide
production and maintenance needs. Oversees
planning and execution to ensure long term goals
and objectives are met, including mine planning
and exploration. Strong compliance emphasis with
applicable EHS regulations effecting the site and
employees maintains a safe working environment
and an atmosphere of continuous imp rovement. Has
involvement with other special projects as
assigned. Directly responsible for maintaining
good employee relations in accordance with MTI
philosophies. This includes coordinating and
ensuring performance management and employee
development. Future assignments may include duties
in other functional business areas.
Skills Abilities
BS in related technical or business field and
minimum of 10 years of management experience in an
industry-related field are required. Must also
have experience in diverse functional roles, and
the ability to work independently. Must have a
well-developed Operational Excellence
understanding, including 5S, Kaizen, TPM, Standard
Work and Kanban must have the ability to lead
Operation Excellence initiatives. Must provide
strong leadership skills under pressure. Must have
a strong customer focus for both internal and
external customers. Strong oral and written
communication skills and a demonstrated balance
between analytical and creative thinking are all
required. Must be a self-starter who seeks
responsibility and is able to work with minimal
direction. Must demonstrate a willingness to
challenge conventional ideas and to be flexible,
and be able to function effectively in a Lean team
environment.
General
Microsoft Office Competency Word, Excel,
PowerPoint required. Lotus Notes and experience
operating in Oracle business system is a plus.
