The Maintenance Mechanic - Millwright for the plant will work under the direction of the Maintenance Supervisor. The Maintenance Mechanic must know and understand the function of the equipment in food processing mainly in the packaging department. Any safety concerns should be addressed with the Maintenance Supervisor/ Millwright. Duties and Responsibilities
Ensure work is performed based on daily/weekly/monthly/annually work schedules within your department. Processing is a 24/7 activity during the harvest season.
Responsible to perform work which meets an acceptable level of quality. i.e. structurally sound welds, proper installation of parts, electrical safety, etc. Responsible for knowing and understanding the function of packaging equipment. Responsible for the repair, installation and performing of preventative maintenance on equipment. Follow Safety and Accident Prevention Rules, GMPs, HACCP, and other food safety and quality programs. Follow lock out tag out procedures. Operate a fork lift safely and adhere to the fork lift safety rules and perform fork lift inspections. Responsible for the repair of fork lifts and other vehicles.
Responsible for performing extensive repair on mill equipment i.e. conveyors, augers, elevators, bearing and complete maintenance work order log for daily activities. Must be available off-schedule at times and work well with the schedule demands of a seasonal food processing facility. Other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements. This position requires a person experienced in/or possessing the ability in the following Experience in food manufacturing. Must be able to weld and use oxy/accet. torch, experience with stainless steel and mild steel fabrication/welding. Must have own tools. Have basic knowledge of hydraulic control systems, pneumatic systems, electrical systems and assist the maintenance electrician. Experience with 36VDC/48VDC and 120VAC to 480VAC electrical systems to include installation and trouble shooting a plus. Must be able to operate any tools or equipment which are common to the trade.
To troubleshoot equipment or vehicle failures.
Have knowledge to perform maintenance and repair of packaging equipment. Knowledge of Lock out Tag out Procedures, HACCP, GMPs, Organic Handling Procedures, Allergen Control Program, Food Plant Security, Glass and Hard Plastic, Quality related policies, and Safety programs, and make sure plant operations are complying with those programs. Can follow instructions
Physical Requirements. Must be able to lift from 10 to 100 pounds when needed. Physical demand requirements are in excess of those for medium work. Must have dexterous use of both hands and feet. This job requires good corrected vision with good depth perception and hearing, The job also requires standing, lifting, kneeling, stooping, reaching and crawling. This position may work during both Day and Swing Shift hours.
