Description:
Progress Rail Services Corporation, a Caterpillar Company and a leading provider of services to the Railroad industry in the US, Canada, Mexico, Brazil and Europe, has immediate openings for Carman at our Wilmer, TX intermodal ramp location to perform mechanical inspections and repairs on railroad freight cars. Located near Dallas, Duncanville and Lancaster.
This is an outdoor strenous job. We operate 24/7 in all types of weather.
Work Schedule: 12 hour shifts. Must be available to work day shift or night shift.

Duties:
Summary of Duties
*
Perform mechanical inspection and repair on railcars, brakes, brake beams, couplers, wheels, bearing, axles and other mechanical parts/systems, etc.
*
May involve servicing locomotives
*
Provide support in all areas of ramp operations
*
Other duties as assigned by supervision
Qualifications:
Summary of Qualifications
*
12 months mechanical experience, utilizing hand tools, air/power tools, etc
*
All equipment & tools furnished by company
*
Stick Welding preferred but not required
*
Must be able to pass a review of a background check, including any convictions (felonies or misdemeanors) in the past seven (7) years, drug testing and a fitness-for duty medical review.
Essential Job Functions:
* Physically demanding work and involves frequent bending, kneeling, stooping, lifting, climbing and walking on gravel and other uneven surfaces
* Must work outside in all types of weather conditions (rain, sleet, snow, wind, dust, extreme heat/cold)
* Ability to utilize and read precision gauges and instruments
* Ability to read and understand mechanical maintenance manuals
