The First Responder Network Authority (FirstNet) was established by the Middle Class Relief and Jobs Creation Act of 2012 as an independent authority within the National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA). FirstNet is led by a 15-member Board of Directors and day-to-day operations are managed by a Board-appointed General Manager. FirstNet will build, deploy, and operate a nationwide public safety broadband network, and hold the single public safety granted for wireless public safety broadband deployment. FirstNet responsibilities include network design, establishment of provider agreements, infrastructure construction, and equipment deployment.
The Radio Engineer (Director of Radio Access Network Equipment and Architecture Engineering) will manage a group of engineers that are responsible for the planning and design of FirstNet’s Radio Access Network and equipment architecture. This position will report to the Deputy Chief Technical Officer of FirstNet.
