Job Summary:
The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) is accountable for providing nursing care and support services to the residential adult population in the Domiciliary for Homeless Veterans under the direct and indirect supervision of the registered professional nurse. The Homeless and Domiciliary Programs are a rapidly growing group of services which provide a variety of CARF and JC accredited services for homeless veterans, including a new Domiciliary Care for Homeless Veterans (DCHV), a 40 bed residential facility. This facility is scheduled to accept its first veterans for admission projected in 2012. Prior to the implementation of the Homeless Domiciliary, the LPN will be assigned to the Denver Medical Center to orient to patient care and patient care support functions thru-out, to include, but not limited to providing direct nursing care, assistance with ADLS, environmental safety checks, milieu maintenance, and 1:1 observation of patients at risk of harming themselves and others. Following completion of orientation and validation of competencies, the LPN may be assigned to perform these functions under the direct and indirect supervision of the registered professional nurse.
