About the Agency

TYPE OF APPOINTMENT: This is a temporary position, limited to 1,039 hours of work in a service year and may be terminated at any time.  

Applicants may be selected at either the GS-05 or GS-06 grade level.  Please indicate the lowest acceptable grade you are willing to accept in the Questionnaire portion of the application process.  Individuals selected under this vacancy announcement are eligible for re-hire in subsequent service years.  The service year is established upon your entrance on duty date. This position usually works four (4), ten (10) hour days followed by three (3) days off while conducting fieldwork (approximately June-September). Typically 10-14 nights per month are spent in travel status and the employee stays in park housing or camps in remote back country locations while traveling to conduct fieldwork. We expect to fill 2 positions; however additional selections may be made within 90 days of the closing date of the announcement.
