The Seasonal Recruitment Operations Center is currently accepting applications to fill up to one (1) temporary position at Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park, Gunnison, Colorado.  Appointments made under this announcement are limited to 1039 hours (six months) in a service year and may be terminated at any time. Appointments under this announcement are eligible for rehire and/or extension (when initial appointment is less than 1039 hours) if workload and funding allow.  Anticipated Entry on Duty: April 2014

Area Description: Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park is located 15 miles northeast of Montrose, Colorado.   Montrose has a population of approximately 18,000 and regionally serves a population of 60,000. Most grocery, shopping, entertainment and medical services can be found there.    The town of Crawford, Colorado is located 10 miles from the North Rim of the Black Canyon.  The majority of the rock climbing within the Black Canyon is based out of the North Rim.  The North Rim Ranger Station and housing are in one unit with a small 13-site campground located one-half mile away.  The rock of Black Canyon is rugged steep and deep and offers some of the most challenging rock climbing in North America.  The park is home to a rich variety of plants and wildlife, including mule deer, elk, and big horn sheep.
