BIS is looking for an energetic, innovative seasoned executive or high-level manager who will enjoy working in a dynamic and mission driven organization as the Director, Office of Exporter Services. The ideal candidate will have experience applying forward-thinking leadership in promoting and implementing a vision that fosters organizational excellence. This position requires an understanding of and experience in matters relating to the publication of regulatory amendments to the Export Administration Regulations (EAR), training of the pubic with respect to its obligations per the EAR, and assisting the public in its efforts to comply with the EAR. The incumbent will serve as an advisor to senior officials of the Department and as a principle advisor and provide expert technical advice and assistance to the Assistant Secretary and Deputy Assistant Secretary, as requested, on such matters as legislative proposals and policy as they relate to and impact on the implementation of the Department’s export licensing program, including the management, development and implementation of strategies that anticipate customer needs, and the execution of vital change initiatives.
This position is located in the Office of Exporter Services, Bureau of Industry and Security. The Office of Exporter Services is responsible for counseling exporters, conducting export control seminars and drafting and publishing changes to the Export Administration Regulations (EAR). It is also responsible for licensing and compliance actions relating to the special comprehensive license, and for administering the processing of license applications and commodity classifications.
