The Congressional Budget Office (CBO) is a small nonpartisan agency that provides economic and budgetary analysis to the Congress. The Macroeconomic Analysis Division, which generates CBO's economic projections that underlie the agency's 10-year budget projections, studies major developments in the economy, and analyzes the economic effects of fiscal policy, is seeking a macroeconomist with a broad range of related interests. Recent and ongoing work in the division suggests the scope of those interests: the forces underlying the slow recovery, hysteresis in the labor market, the probability of large, negative shocks in the economy, and long-run productivity growth.
