These positions will be filled in the Division of Depositor and Consumer Protection (DCP). Within DCP, interns may be assigned to the Supervisory Policy Branch or the Consumer Research & Examination Analytics Branch. The Supervisory Policy Branch is the primary FDIC group that focuses on consumer protection-related regulatory policy. The branch’s responsibilities include the following three areas: (1) developing consumer protection and fair lending policy, regulations, and guidance for examiners and the banking industry, (2) developing the examination policies and procedures used by DCP compliance examiners, and (3) monitoring for emerging consumer protection issues and risks to provide an early-warning system for the FDIC’s supervisory program.
The Consumer Research & Examination Analytics Branch assists in the development of research and analysis for the FDIC’s Compliance and CRA Examination, Consumer and Community Affairs, and Supervisory Policy branches as well as for senior management. The branch executes the FDIC’s consumer financial research program, which is designed to (1) provide econometric, statistical analysis, and other analytic support to the Corporation’s compliance examination and enforcement program; and (2) produce original consumer research into consumers’ experiences, capabilities, knowledge, and preferences and the potential need for additional protective measures.
Candidates selected for these internship positions are expected to report to duty and attend New Employee Orientation on one of the following dates: June 2, 2014; June 16, 2014 or June 30, 2014.
