About the Agency

These positions are located in the Division of Interpretation at the National Mall and Memorial Parks (NAMA) in Washington, DC.

The Park's primary function is the preservation, protection, maintenance and interpretation of the monumental nucleus of the Nation's Capital, encompassing principle symbols of our heritage; Thomas Jefferson Memorial, WWII Memorial, Lincoln Memorial, Washington Monument, Vietnam Veteran's Memorial, Korean War Veteran's Memorial, Franklin Delano Roosevelt Memorial, Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial, the Dwight D. Eisenhower Memorial, the Old Post Office Tower and Ford's Theatre National Historical Site.

SPECIAL HIRING AUTHORITY CONSIDERATION:  Individuals who are eligible for consideration under special hiring authorities (i.e., 30% compensable veterans, severely handicapped individuals, former Peace Corps and VISTA volunteers, etc.) will be accepted and considered non-competitively for this vacancy.

This position is being filled under the Pathways Internship Program which is designed to provide students enrolled in a wide variety of educational institutions, from high school to graduate level, with paid work opportunities in agencies to explore Federal careers while still in school.

The anticipated entrance on duty date is May 2014 (IF SELECTED FOR THIS POSITION, YOU MUST BE A STUDENT CURRENTLY ENROLLED OR ACCEPTED FOR ENROLLMENT AT THE TIME OF APPOINTMENT).  This is an Excepted Service appointment not-to-exceed September 30, 2014.  This appointment may be extended until the incumbent's education program requirements have been completed (as long as the incumbent continues to meet the eligibility requirements under the Pathways Internship program).  This position WILL NOT be converted to a term or permanent appointment upon completion of incumbent's academic program requirements.

Temporary housing is not available.

The hourly salary range for the GS-05 grade level is $16.49 to $21.44.

• Suitable for Federal employment as determined by a background investigation

• Incumbent is required to maintain and wear prescribed NPS uniform
• Incumbent must possess a valid state/District of Columbia driver's license
