Civilian employees serve a vital role in supporting the Army mission.  They provide the skills that are not readily available in the military, but crucial to support military operations.  The Army integrates the talents and skills of its military and civilian members to form a Total Army.

About the Position:

This position is in the Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS). Employees occupying DCIPS positions are in the Excepted Service and must adhere to U.S. Code, Title 10, as well as Department of Defense Instruction 1400.25. 

This position is located at the J5 Plans and Policy Directorate, Joint Interagency Task Force South (JIATFS), Key West, FL.

JIATF South consists of elements from the Department of Defense (DoD); Customs and Border Protection (CPB); U.S. Coast Guard (USCG); various agencies such as FBI, DEA, DIA and State Dept.; and allied military and police forces. JIATF South is a fully integrated national task force organized to realize the force multiplier effect of the various agencies whose goal is to effectively plan, direct and conduct detection and monitoring of illegal drug activities.

Key West is a beautiful resort area with tourists year-round and a very cosmopolitan mix of residents. Opportunities for outdoor and cultural activities abound. Key West is a three-hour drive from Miami. Be prepared for extremely high off-base housing costs; as an alternative to the lack of affordable housing, civilians are authorized to rent government quarters on Naval Air Station Key West, subject to availability.

DCIPS Excepted Position

 

TERM: This announcement is for a term position. Permanent employees who apply, are selected for, and ultimately accept this position will be converted to a term appointment. Term positions in DCIPS may be extended up to a maximum of five years. This position may be converted to permanent without further competition after completion of two years of continuous service in this position.

U.S. Citizenship required

Temporary Duty Travel (TDY) may be required 25% or more of the time
