Food Preparation/ Service Worker

JOB SUMMARY:
<P>Essential Functions: Ensure all serving lines are continuously stocked with fresh, tasty and well presented food during the entire service period. Monitor temperature control process to make sure food temperatures are constantly within specifications, taking corrective action as necessary. Set up, stock, clean and replenish the dining area during the time the dining area is open, including some food preparation. Break down, clean, and store left over items from the dining area. Supervise others to ensure this process is done correctly. Train employees in proper food safety techniques, temperature recording and enhanced food presentation. Assist in checking out all employees at the close of business to ensure areas are clean, sanitized and stocked. Ensure all employees are serving correct portions. Ensure all production paperwork, all opening/closing checklists, all waste logs are filled out correctly.</P>
<P>Marginal/Incidental Functions: Other related functions as assigned.</P>
<P>Required Qualifications: Experience following basic work instructions. Six months experience preparing and assisting in the preparation of food. One year experience preparing food in a commercial establishment. Extensive knowledge of correct food safety practices including food temperatures. Ability to interact with both food preparation and service employees to achieve the goal of providing safe, attractive and tasty food throughout the service period.</P>
<P>Preferred Qualifications: High School Diploma or GED. At least one year experience in food preparation in a high volume unit serving 1000+ patrons per meal, preferably with the Division of Housing and Food Service, including receiving, stocking dry items, and frozen merchandise. Experience in completing food production records. Demonstrate the ability to receive, respond, and follow through with written and oral University of Housing and Food Service policies, procedures and work related instructions from supervisors, customers, and co-workers. Demonstrate excellent interpersonal communication and customer service skills and a professional demeanor. Must have and maintain a current Serv Safe Certificate or a current Travis County Food Handlers Card.</P>
