Detailed Description:
* Conduct food safety inspections/audits.
* Summarize and evaluate inspection/audit findings.
* Communicate findings/results of inspections/audits with client site management or appropriate client personnel.
* Collect food, product or environmental samples from client sites and ship samples to appropriate laboratories for testing.
* Develop effective work plans for the completion of assigned inspections/audits within a determined timeframe.
* Establish and maintain effective communication with headquarter based project managers as it relates to assigned clients.
Job Requirements:
Required Qualifications:
* Bachelors degree in environmental health, food science, food technology, dietetics, nutrition or other related scientific area of study OR two (2) years of successful NSF food safety audit experience.
* Ability to work independently from remote location.
* Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).
* Willingness and ability to travel within the assigned territory.
* Willingness and ability to work some evenings and weekends.
* Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.
* Must have a valid drivers license and reliable transportation.
Preferred Qualifications:
* 0-2 years of related work experience with food safety and quality.
Candidates who meet all of the above required and preferred qualifications plus the following qualifications may be considered at the "Food Safety Auditor" level:
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS (Auditor level):
* Two (2) years related work experience with food safety.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (Auditor level):
* Advanced degree in environmental health, related science or business.
* Experience with retail food safety inspections / audits.
* A minimum of two (2) years experience working in the public or private sector as a health sanitarian. and/or experience of working within retail or catering businesses
* Work experience as a chemist, microbiologist, or related quality function.
* Professional registration.
* Foreign language skills (Spanish, French or other languages).
Additional Details:
Work Environment:
* Majority of work is performed in a retail food (restaurant, supermarket), food preparation environment, field, commercial or other non-office setting.
* Majority of time spent work independently from a remote location.
Physical Demands:
* Required frequent travel by car or plane up to 70% of the time.
* Required to stand, or walk for long periods of time.
* Required to have a valid drivers license and operate a motor vehicle.
* Extensive use of computers and other electronic equipment.
* Moderate physical effort required (ability to carry equipment weighing 25 lbs or less).
* Ability to follow client and regulatory required safety practices.
