JOB SUMMARY:
Summary
This position assists in the creation, design, review, and implementation of all new or revised food service operations within a facility. It monitors and maintains food service quality assurance and control; and assists management in monitoring food service budgets and expenses. It also assures that all applicable corporate guidelines are followed in providing quality nutritional services.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Advise management on the design of the kitchen operations and the purchase of the food and equipment as required by a facility’s contract and within organizational standards and policies.
- Assist in the design, review, and implementation of food menus with the assistance of the facility’s food service personnel and the Director of Food Services in accordance with contract provisions and The Geo Group guidelines.
- Assist the facility in recruiting and hiring qualified food service staff to prepare and deliver sufficient and efficient dietary services.
- Monitor and maintain quality assurance and control in the food services area following the Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) guidelines for sanitation and safe food handling as mandated by the Local Health Department. Conduct annual audits of food service operations or when requested.
- Assist management in monitoring food service budgets. Monitor and audit food service inventories and expenses to achieve and maintain the financial plan as established by the Company.
- Ensure training needs are met for all food service staff within a facility with the assistance of Food Services Managers and the Directors of Food Services.
- Assist in the development and review of all food service procedures and ensure the implementation of polices and procedures.
- Assist the Director of Food Services in resolving any problem that may occur within the food services operations.
- Establish and maintain effective relations with internal and external customers.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

- Ability to work with computers and the applicable software.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or a related discipline and two (2) years of professional experience in successfully managing a food service facility in a correctional environment or institutional kitchen. Five (5) years of professional food services management experience may be substituted for the educational requirements at management’s discretion.
- Five (5) years experience in menu development, product specifications, and other related training used in facility food service operations.
- Extensive knowledge of the practices, policies, procedures and materials used in food service department.
- Ability to coordinate the demands of several food service operations and a thorough knowledge of administrative techniques.
- Effective personnel interaction, communication skills, and problem solving techniques.
