Food Service Worker I
The Food Service Worker is appointed by the Central Hiring Authority responsible to the Assistant Food Service Manager and serves under the direct supervision of the Dining Room Supervisor or Charge. The Food Service Worker shall be responsible for the preparation and serving of food, cleaning equipment and the work area.
1. Responsible for serving clients at scheduled meal time, closely following menus and diet cards following strict portion control.
2. Employees will be responsible for thoroughly cleaning serving area and equipment after each meal.
3. Employee will assist in the preparation of vegetables for salads, assist the cooks in food preparation and cleaning the work area and equipment in Central Kitchen.
4. Employee will prepare dining area for the serving of meals, including pre-heating the serving tables, grill and running dish machine and other equipment needed for serving in a timely manner.
5. Employee will monitor and record the temperature of the dishmachine, refrigerator and keep food temps following policies and procedures.
6. Responsible for completing leftover food forms at each meal.
Essential Job Functions
1. Ability to read and comprehend written instructions.
2. Ability to complete basic math problems.
3. Physical ability to permit standing and walking on tile on concrete floors for long periods of time.
4. Knowledge of basic food safety, and food preparation methods.
5. Knowledge of methods to maintain sanitation in the food preparation and service area.
6. Strength and ability to safely perform Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).
7. Ability to carry out instructions and use good judgement in making decisions in non-routine situations.
8. Work harmoniously with other staff and to generate productive, cohesive work settings and positive public and inter-personal relationships.
9. Ability to be flexible in handling work assignments.
10. Observes and obeys all safety rules applicable to all aspects of facility and departmental operations to minimize self-injuries or injuries to clients or co-workers.
Conducts self at all times in a manner consistent with standards expected of DADS
employees as outlined by DADS Rules and MSS Policies and
Registrations, Licensure Requirements or Certifications
Must have valid Texas Driver's License and a driving record that meets the state of Texas and DADS driving requirement.
