About the Position:

This position is for a Medical Records Technician (Coder) at Fort Benning located within the Martin

Army Community Hospital.

  

Martin Army Community Hospital was opened in 1958 and is named in honor of the late Major General Joseph I. Martin, Medical Corps. Fort Benning's MEDDAC, a major subordinate command of the U.S. Army Medical Command, furnishes medical care to an eligible patient population in excess of 72,000 beneficiaries. Its primary facility is Martin Army Community Hospital (MACH), Building 9200, conveniently located off I-185 and Marne Road. In 2009 the hospital received full Accreditation with Commendation from the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO), an honor reserved for only the finest hospitals in the nation.

 

Fort Benning is located in the "Tri-Community" comprised of Columbus, GA; Ft. Benning, GA; and Phenix City, AL. Columbus (third-largest city in Georgia) is a growing community of 250,000. This is a developmental position for a certified Medical Records Technician (Coder) located at the Martin Army Community Hospital, Patient Administration Division.

 

May be filled at the GS-06, GS-07, or GS-08 level.

 

Management may select at any of the grade levels announced.

 

Noncompetitive promotion protential to target grade.

 

SELECTIVE PLACEMENT FACTOR-This position requires certification in one of the following before being assigned to this position:

 

1. Certified Professional Coder - Hospital Based (CPC-H)

2. Certified Professional Coder - Outpatient (CPC)

3. Certified Coding Specialist - Hospital Based (CCS)

4. Certified Coding Specialist - Outpatient (CCS-P)

5. Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) or

6. Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA)

7. Certified Coding Associates (CCA)  

  

Certification must be submitted with your application. Must maintain required certification while employed.
