JOB SUMMARY:
Syringa Networks specializes in custom network solutions for businesses, providing a wide range of networking services throughout the region. Delivered over a purpose-built self-healing fiber optic network, services are available at a range of speeds from T1 to OC-192 and Ethernet at data rates ranging from 1 Megabit (Mb) to 10 Gigabits (Gbs). The regional company also offers Dedicated Internet Access (DIA), MPLS, SONET, DWDM, ATM/Frame, Fiber-to-the-Tower, and Network Equipment sales. Syringa Networks is a privately held Idaho corporation and is headquartered in Boise, Idaho, with additional offices in Idaho Falls, Idaho, and West Valley City, Utah. There is an opening in the Idaho Falls office for a GIS Technician. The GIS Technician will be responsible for making maps, customized Geographic Information Systems (GIS) applications and manipulating data to serve a variety of purposes. They will read and interpret maps, manipulate and understand digital land data and manage data entered into a GIS database. Responsibilites will include designing or preparing graphic representations of GIS data according to RUS (Rural Utility Services) standards, interpreting aerial photography or imagery, analyzing GIS data, maintain or modify existing GIS databases, perform complex drafting work, review existing or incoming data for currentcy, accuracy, usefulness, quality, or completeness of documentation, preparation of quotes based on construction costs for new builds, and technical support within the company to users regarding the maintenance, development, or operation of GIS databases, equipment, or applications.
