The Times-Newsapos; full-time features reporter will follow rigorous reporting standards and be unfailingly devoted to accuracy. Yet this reporter also must be comfortable stepping out of standard newswriting styles to write with authority and a personal tone. He/she will write in a variety of story lengths and nontraditional forms. The right candidate will use social media as a tool to spot story ideas and connect with sources, but he or she will also comb the community to find the compelling human stories that nobody could find online. Weapos;re looking for someone whoapos;ll be just as comfortable in a corral on branding day as in a collegeapos;s coffee shop. The features reporter will find and develop story ideas in a richly varied beat. The topical range includes dining, nightlife, outdoor recreation, the southern Idaho landscape, the arts, family issues, fashion, health and fitness, home and garden, faith apos; and anything else that touches the real lives of real people. Simply put, this beat is not for a reporter who relies on press releases and government meeting agendas for story ideas. The features reporter will work Sundays through Thursdays and serve as the newsroomapos;s Sunday editor; some editing experience is helpful.
