Full-Time/Part-Time Full-Time Exempt/Non-Exempt Exempt Shift Days Description Department: Sales and Marketing Reports To: Director of Sales and Marketing FLSA STATUS : Exempt JOB SUMMARY: Under the guidance of the Director of Sales and Marketing, the Senior Market Development Manager will work to guide the business development strategy for his/her assigned areas of the Milk Protein Concentrate and Milk Permeate Powder business. He/she will develop and maintain long-term relationships with existing customers while actively building business with potential customers, serving as the primary commercial interface in the assigned markets. Work from a Jerome Idaho office location or a remote location with travel of approximately 50%. GENERAL PURPOSE: Acquire and leverage deep insight that leads to customer loyalty, improved product positioning, new products and margin improvement. Provides leadership toward the achievement of maximum profitability and growth in line with company vision and values. Establishes regional and customer plans and strategies to expand profitability by customer and the customer base in the market segment. RESPONSIBILITIES: Responsible for the performance and development of assigned accounts. Develops a business plan and sales strategy for the assigned markets – to ensure the attainment of company sales goals and profitability. Helps guide organization profitability through analysis of new product and new customer potentials MAIN TASKS: Closely manages accounts within assigned market segments Prepares customer development action plans as well as plans for effective search of sales leads and prospects. Works with Director of Sales and Marketing to understand key/core accounts and get to know the key players at those accounts Initiates and coordinates development of action plans to penetrate new markets. Assists in the development and implementation of marketing plans as needed. Establishes and maintains customer, industry and colleague relationships Maintains accurate records within CRM program of all interactions, pricings, sales, etc. Prepares and presents proposals and presentations. Controls expenses to meet budget guidelines. Adheres to all company policies, procedures and business ethics. Monitors customer preferences to determine focus of sales efforts. Maintains close communication within industry to stay abreast of competitive activity, pricing and market trends. Represents company and promotes products at conferences and trade shows. Position Requirements ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE: Required: Minimum of 5-10 years sales experience in food ingredient sales to large accounts. BS degree required - technical field, food science or business preferred. Proven ability to drive sales performance, present samples and concepts appropriately to customers, meet demanding time schedules and effectively lead in a salesperson/relationship role. Understanding of food industry market dynamics and requirements. Personable – able to build strong relationships with customers and colleagues. Effective at organizing, planning, and prioritizing work Strong written and verbal communication skills-with excellent ability to understand and translate customer requirements and excellent ability to interact and cooperate with company employees in all functional disciplines. Tenacious self-starter with a mature outlook. Proven ability to operate independently and achieve results; enthusiastic, committed and conscientious. Creative strategic thinker - able to meaningfully contribute to the development of the company’s short and long-term strategy. Effective decision maker and problem solver. Ability to analyze information and evaluate results to choose a solution that benefits both the supplier and the customer. Strong computer literacy and quantitative skills to enter data, process information and communicate. Preferred: Experience in sales, professional presentations and account management. Experience in strategy development and implementation. Experience in new business development planning, opportunity analysis and portfolio management. Interested in learning new things.
