Job Summary:
The Chief, Clinical Excellence is recognized as a hospital expert on performance measure, quality management programs and philosophies. This dynamic individual will be responsible for providing leadership and guidance to develop, implement, refine and maintain a comprehensive quality management review program at the hospital-wide level to evaluate the quality of patient care, and evaluate the appropriateness and timeliness of service provided.
Specific programs reporting within this service line include quality management, risk management, utilization management, patient safety, accreditation, performance measurement and management, and other programs which either emerge over time or are integrated with the existing functions of the office to increase collaboration and impact. The incumbent will fulfill the three prime directives of the Secretary of Veterans Affairs by being patient-centered, forward-thinking and results-oriented. S/he will independently manage assigned functions, as well as ensure the integration of those functions with all aspects of the medical center, perhaps most importantly a very close liaison with systems redesign efforts. S/he will ensure that the Director is kept informed of progress, opportunities, issues and collaborations related to all assigned areas, and will also work closely with a wide range of staff and managers within and outside the medical center to advance these programs. S/he will also work with community partners, affiliates, researchers, accrediting bodies and others to ensure cutting edge knowledge and when possible input into the science of patient quality. This position reports directly to the Medical Center Director of the Indianapolis VA Medical Center.
