Civilian employees serve a vital role in supporting the Army mission. They provide the skills that are not readily available in the military, but crucial to support military operations. The Army integrates the talents and skills of its military and civilian members to form a Total Army.

About the Position:

 

Applications will be reviewed and referred for selection at periodic cut-off dates, specifically the 15th and 30th of each month.

Applicants whose application packages are received by the cut-off date will be considered first. Applicants whose application packages are received after the cut-off date and prior to the closing date will only be considered if the supply of candidates is exhausted and/or there are additional vacancies to fill.

 

The maximum entry age for this position will be 37 years of age due to the position falling under the Law Enforcement Officer (LEO) retirement system. Retirement from this position is mandatory at age 57 with 20 years of LEO service. The maximum entry age may be waived under certain circumstances. The work requires frequent, direct contact in the detention of inmates convicted of offenses against the punitive articles of the Uniform Code of Military Justice. Regularly assigned contacts with inmates expose the incumbent to daily stress and the threat of potentially dangerous situations such as physical attack or riots by the inmate population.
